*Brivaracetam 100mg Tablet – Uses*
Brivaracetam is an anti-epileptic drug used to control seizures.
*Main use:*  *Partial-onset seizures*: Approved as monotherapy or add-on therapy for adults and children ≥1 month old with partial-onset seizures, with or without secondary generalization. The 100mg tablet is a higher strength, usually taken as 50mg twice daily or 100mg twice daily depending on the prescribed total daily dose.
*How it works:*  Attaches to synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) in the brain. This helps regulate neurotransmitter release and stabilizes abnormal electrical activity that causes seizures.
*Key points:*  - *Dosing*: Total daily dose for adults is usually 50mg to 200mg, split into 2 doses. So one 100mg tablet twice daily = 200mg/day, which is the max recommended dose.  - *Take with or without food*. Swallow whole. Tablets can also be crushed and given via feeding tube if needed.  - *No food restrictions* and no titration needed — it can be started at a therapeutic dose if required.  - *Common side effects*: Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, irritability, balance problems.  - *Important*: May cause mood or behavior changes, including depression and suicidal thoughts. Contact your doctor for any new/worsening mood symptoms. Avoid alcohol — it worsens drowsiness.  
This is prescription-only for epilepsy. Don't stop suddenly without doctor guidance, even though brivaracetam has lower withdrawal risk than some other anti-seizure meds. Don’t drive until you know how it affects you.
